Steven Colbert channeling his Bill O'Reilly persona at the White House Correspondents dinner :
"I believe that the government that governs best is a government that governs least, and by these standards we have set up a fabulous government in Iraq."
Crooks and Liars has it all. Remember to read the comments

They came in fast and furious. C&L is a must read blog -even if it's a slow news day.
I gotta say the Colbert part of the evening was painful to watch. It was funny in a "I can't believe he said that," kind of way. It was funny "ha ha" in parts. I also believe it is about time someone actually said what many of us are thinking directly, clearly (though in satire mode) and most importantly to their face. The powers that be (including the press) seemed unamused though riveted to their seats.
The Moderate Voice has more.

Take Action: Don't Let Congress Ruin the Internet
Don't Let Congress Ruin the Internet
Right now Congress is pushing a law that would abandon the First Amendment of the Internet — a principle called "network neutrality" that preserves the free and open Internet. Congress needs to hear from you today or they will hand over control of what you do online to companies like AT&T, Verizon and Comcast.
Politicians are trading favors for campaign donations from these companies. They're being wooed by people like AT&T's CEO, who says "the Internet can't be free." Sign this petition to tell your elected representatives to protect Internet freedom now. When you fill out the information and push submit, we will automatically send it to your Members of Congress.

- Target.com will not accept the password that I just created to manage my account, however they did send me an email confirming that I have set up my account properly… grrrrrrr
- People are freaking out about The DaVinci Code - what do people not get about the book being a novel? The second in command of something in Pope-ville wants people to boycott the film. My born again brother-in-law had a hissy because I have it on my bookshelf.
- There are about six projects/chores around here that need doing and I don't know where to begin. So I'm typing. I want to think that I am in a "creative process" mode and I know this is bullshit.

I read about this over at DailyKos, posted by topdog08. Life shouldn't be up to insurance companies or politicians. Hospitals should already know better.
Perhaps under pressure from the insurance company, St. Luke's plans to terminate the life of a 53-year old woman, Andrea Clark, against the wishes of her family and against her own wishes as stated just a few days ago. Unlike the Terri Schiavo case, Andrea Clarke is NOT brain-dead. Her family wants your help in stopping the state-authorized killing of their loved one. Whose choice is it to terminate life? Hospitals? Insurance companies? Under a 1999 Texas "Futile Care" law (Text of the law ), signed by then-governor George W. Bush, hospitals can unilaterally decide to "pull the plug". Two people previously allowed to die under this law were 5-month old Sun Hudson and Tirhas Habtegris, both cases against the wishes of the family.
I don't know the condition of this woman, but it should be her or her family, who make a decision of whether to pull the plug or not.

In an open letter from Blogger Jesus' General (a straight guy he tells his readers), to GOP operative Ken Mehlman, JC suggests Ken become the poster boy for chastity and gives Ken some suggestions for marketing the idea to America.
It's also important that you talk about the difficulties you face in trying to remain chaste. I bet it's a constant battle, especially now, during wartime.
That quote made me laugh out loud - seriously. With humor, JC makes it plain that this abstinence thing is just not the primary way to go about preventing pregnancy - therefore the need for abortion. Who in the world could believe that Ken Mehlman is a virgin - a single man in at least his mid thirties. I suppose it could happen, but will Ken step up and admit he has sinned? Don't think so…Yea, I'm still laughing here.
