Danforth:

I am expecting an email from Tony Perkins any minute now freaking out over Danforth. [Emphasis mine below]

The Raw Story | Bush’s second choice for Vice President to assail GOP over Schiavo, gay rights
“I think that the only purpose served by the campaign for the amendment is the humiliation of gay Americans, advocated by the Christian right and eagerly supported by its suitors in the Republican Party,” he adds. “In reality, it is gay bashing.”

Danforth then goes even further, saying supporters’ assertions that the amendment would protect marriage is ludicrous.

“America’s divorce rate is now over 50 percent, and marriage is under attack from a number of quarters: finances, promiscuity, alcohol and drugs, the pressures of work, cultural acceptance of divorce, et cetera,” he pens. “But it is incomprehensible that one of these threats is when someone else, whom we have never seen, in a place where we may have never been, has done something we don’t like.”

I don’t think I agree with the gay bashing point he makes. Haven’t thought about that angle. Earlier in the article he does make a point about America being a Christian country…not. I might be on that page with him.

Newt strikes a pose with vote gettin’ verbiage

Let me think here…. American Eleven…September 11…hmm it rhymes…it’s eleven…no, it’s 11…and national security…and America’s war… and fascists… and a struggle for civilization…

Newt Gingrich on 2008 on National Review Online
I call them the “American Eleven” because each issue defines the right solution, which not coincidentally enjoys overwhelming support from the American people.

The American Eleven begins with our nation’s security.

As President Bush emphasized this week in his September 11 address to the nation, America’s war against Islamic fascists is a struggle for civilization.

There is no spoon…There is no spoon…
