Sliwa is a delusional character who believes he is a” crimefighter” like the term is used in comic books! His whole bit is” Hey Look at me!”
in his red beret and silk jacket. Truth is he looks like a pot belied clown in a Halloween costume minus the cape. He wears this costume during his radio show( who’s looking!?) and video casts like its giving him supehuman strength. Personally I prefer the color brown on him since he is so full of cow flop!

Is he a “crimefighter”? Ans:NO! He faked his own kidnapping for publicity, faked the return of a wallet to a preist, faked his taking on a six foot six, black criminal in the subway who had a shotgun, faked the racist graffiti on his headquarters door, and faked his whole adult life! He never as he claims, “took on the Mob”, but instead hid behind his microphone and taunted John Gotti Sr. If he is this “super hero” that he likens himself to be, then why didn’t he just go down to Mullberry St. and make his acclaimed “citizen’s arrest” that he talks about? You mean that Slip Mahoney was afraid of some fat linguini eaters? He said that he “is down in the slime and grime of the NYC subways with Uzi toting, psycho pathic, cocaine sucking killing machines”. A usual fictional Slip Mahoney hyperbole of his imagination! But he was afraid of Gotti Sr.? He gives no health care insurance, or life insurance to his members, has them sign a release so in case they injure someone, or get injured, he can keep his million and a half dollar condo. So yes, crimefighting does pay, especially if it never happens!

He wears them because he lives in a phantasy land! He has deluded himself and those stupid enought to beleive him, that he is some kind of “crimefighter”. He is really a reincarnation of “Slip Mahoney” ,the Leo Gorcey character of the Bowery Boys, Batman, and the wrestler, Hulk Hogan. All three are fictives, like his so called “exploits”. A FAKE, PHANTASY, and basically, a b.s. story! He has no real law enforcement training. He has never made an arrest, and has never “fought the Mob”. It is all just stories he’s made up to cash in on. The gullible, ignorant, and just plain stupic believe these stories. He tries to come across as some “colourful” New York City character. But in reality, the question should be, “why didn’t you become a cop”? Ans: “because this sure beats work for a living!” He even sold the name rights to “the Guardian Angels” back in the early nineties to a W.C.W. pro-wrestler, The Big Boss Man! He became “the Guardian Angel”, replete with beret and jacket, and Curtis Sliwa and his stooges running around a mock NYC stage set in Universal City Studios where the matches were taped. This was part of the program, and, it was on WCBS tv late on Saturday night. I happened to have stumbled upon it and saw Sliwa, or as he is called by those who know him well, Slip Mahoney, taking part in it. He wants to recall in his phantasy world, the opening of those old Bowery Boys movies in black and white, where the song, “the sidewalks of NY” is playing, kids on playing street games, Mrs. O’Shay is looking out her first floor walk-up window looking out for the kids, Officer O’Toole is swinging his nightstick as he walks his beat, Gusippe is selling his vegtables from his cart, and father Dunphy is saying to Slip, “now go and say ten Hail Marys, my son”. That is phantasy that he creates for those who don’t know his antics, and think, “he’s so NY”!

I agree wholeheartedly with the above comment. I am a hetero-male but I find her to be stunningly pretty, witty, knowledgeable and articulate.

I wish she would light into that bigoted, whistle-lipped, lethargic “morning joe”some more. The clown is always interrupting her on “countdown” and taking exception to her positions and I believe he is a closeted, homophobic idiot.

Richard Dreyfuss is a compassionated\ human being on this planet. He is well educated and he has written a book with Harry turtledove called:”THE TWO GEORGES” it is a novel about alternative America.

Mr. Dreyfuss was totally correct in his lessons about Civics. We have to learn about morals & ethics in our society.

Thank you for being the true person who you are Mr. Dreyfuss. I’ve always been a fan of yours.

I hope to meet you again one day soon. We met about 30 yrs. in Chicago when you did a play here.
